For several months, maybe years we have had an on going battle with varmints in the shed eating the cat food. In the beginning they would just eat what was left in the bowl, but over the years they started getting in the containers.
We resorted to several different ways of exterminating the varmints (mostly raccoons) and usually kept the population down.
We put the cat food in a garbage can with a lid, they would take the lid off. Then we got a garbage can with a lid that clamped down. That work really well for a long time, but they seem to be raising smarter raccoons these days. Jim would wire the handles down, lid would be off in the morning. He would wire the handles down and run a rod through the handles, lid would be off in the morning, cat food gone. So now as a last resort, Jim has come up with another solutions:
